TREATMENTS
• From November to December 2016 in open field.
• Plants were staked and maintained at a commercial level with fertilizer/insecticide/fungicide (liquid fertilizer through drip every 3 days).
• No fungicides applied for the duration of the trial. In head count,
• [T0] is the Grower Standard (untreated)
• [T1] is the Grower Std + Vegro® (treated)
• Foliar Applications: 6 applications (A-F) @ 0.5 pint/acre. Total 3 pints or 1.5 Quarts or 0.375 Gallon
AGRONOMIC PROTOCOL
- Location: Florida; Better crops research farm; Block 11, section N, beds 7-9.
- Investigator: Phd John Curtis
- 31 days treatment (1 month)
- Initiation date: Nov-2nd-2016
- Completion date: Dec-14th-2016
- Trial reliability: HIGH
METHODOLOGY
- Plastic beds (32inch top, 6 inch tall) were prepared on a 6ft row spacing. Head lettuce (cv. chosen) were hand seeded into two rows/bed (12 inch plant spacing) on 9/29/2016. Plants were thinned to one (1) plant/hole before spray.
- Each plot was 30 ft in length x 3 bed (30 ft length x 18 ft width)
- Each treatment was replicated four (4) times.
- Foliar Applications: 6 applications (A-F) @ 0.5 pint/acre. Total 3 pints or 1.5 Quarts or 0.375 Gallon
EVALUATION (Head count)
- Marketable harvest
- Number of marketable heads was counted in each plot at 5 DAF
- The cumulative fruit count and weight was also tabulated at 21 DAH
PHYTOTOXICITY
Plants were examined for signs of phytotoxicity (stunting, discoloration etc.) at 5 DAF and using a 0-100% rating scale; 0 = no phytotoxicity and 100% = dead plants.
Study Results
+32%
More head count in % when Vegro® is added to the Grower standard [T0] GS Vs [T1] GS+Vegro®
+19 Pcs
More head count when Vegro® is added to the Grower standard [T0] GS Vs [T1] GS+Vegro®
0%
Zero Phytotoxicity for Vegro®
- • [T1] VEGRO® shows the best results +32.3% (head count)
Objectives: Evaluate the interest to add VEGRO® to the Grower Standard for lettuce yield.
